Biblical Rules of Death Part 4
Rule #4: Satan claims the souls who sin (Hebrews 2:14,15)
God has refused to allow those who die in sin to enter into His presence (compare Rule #2). Satan (a.k.a. “the devil”) holds the power of death over those whose sins have not been remitted (forgiven) (Hebrews 2:14,15).
A clear illustration of this is found in the book of Jude. God (in His sovereignty) called for the body of Moses (to appear at Jesus’ transfiguration, Matthew 17:3). The devil disputed it since Jesus had yet to shed His blood in remission for the Old Testament souls held captive (Matthew 27:52).
Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
Satan/devil may have may hold the power of death over people but Jesus holds the keys to release them (Revelation 1:18)! And, although there was a written code against those who had sinned, Jesus nailed it to His cross (Colossians 2:14). And “if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36)!
If you have not yet accepted Christ’s amazing grace and forgiveness, then why not do it now?
1 – Why does Satan have any right to your soul?
2 – Why is anyone denied access to heaven and the presence of God?
3 – Who can set us free from the guilt of sin?
